IRAs may be funded with the following investments:

- Certificates of deposit
- Common stocks
- Savings accounts
- Unit investment trusts
- Individual retirement annuities
- Money market deposit accounts
- Brokerage accounts
The following investments may not be used to fund an IRA:
- Cash value life insurance
- Collectibles
